When considering how to take a self portrait, I would recommend that you include something important in your life. Something that you have a passion for, like a hobby, interest or activity that you enjoy.

Then your self portrait will say something about you. A portrait is a portrayal. It is not necessarily always a standard head and shoulders portrait that was created with basic studio lighting.

Have fun with your photography. It is supposed to be a creative process that involves exploring and experimenting.

If you don't like something you take, you can just not print your photo or even delete it.
