Have the camera ready This may seem like an obvious one, but you'd be surprised by how may people know this, but really don't implement it.This means having your camera with you at all times. Up until about 2 years ago, this was my biggest basic photography mistake. As a professional portrait photographer who does location portraits, my professional camera equipment was always in my car. I never carried my bulky profession film or digital cameras with me when I was not working. With the improvement in camera sensors for smaller cameras, I now have a mid-size "point and shoot" camera that is always with me. I can't tell you how many times I said those dreaded words, "I wish I had my camera." When you are done your photo shoot, you must load your photos from your camera to the hard drive of your computer. Do it right away. Then make a back up copy of your digital images either to another computer, or a DVD or even an online gallery.
After you have these two copies, delete them from your camera. This is one of the most commonly occurring photo mistakes I see. It's important to keep your camera's memory card empty before your next photo opportunity. Keep it Steady The biggest photography mistake that amateurs make is to get Blurry Pictures from an unsteady camera. There are 3 ways to prevent blurry photos from camera. Either steady the camera by using a tripod or by leaning your body or the camera against something that is sturdy and stationary. Look at what you Get Use the camera's viewing screen. Evaluate your results and make a change if needed. This sounds like an obvious one also, but most people don't really do this right. Take just a few seconds to really study your picture. It's the best way to master a technique. If your are not getting the right result, change one thing and notice what happens. Decide if this is what you wanted or if you should try something else to get your desired photograph. Master One Technique Only try to learn one new tip on taking digital photography each week.
